You might want to try Children's Research Center
They've done work with vignettes related to risk assessment
instruments. Also, you might want to look at Rossi, Schuerman, and
Budde's report using vignettes to assess choice of level of service
provision by social workers.
Thanks, I will look at the chapter you suggest but I was thinking
more of use
of case vignettes in questionnaires as in the study by Giovannoni and
Becerra
amongst other.
Terrence:
It would probably be helpful to look at a copy of an article by David Southall and his colleagues from the November, 1997 issue of Pediatrics, 100(5). Covert video recordings of life-threatening child abuse: Lessons for child protection.
This is an excellent treatment of the very high risk end of MBPS. The mother you are dealing with may not present this type of risk, but it may be helpful to factor the issues raised by this article into your decision-making.

I am seeking information about the MBPS where the mother has had four
previous children removed from her care in the UK.
She has left the UK, remarried and now has a new child , currently 19
months old.
Does anyone have information about the likelihood of risk to this new
child.
