Re: intersection family violence and sexual abuse
Here are a couple more cites that cite the co-occurrence of domestic
violence and sexual abuse by a father:
Williams, L. M., & Finkelhor, D. (1990). The characteristics of incestuous
fathers: A review of recent studies. In W. L. Marshall, D. R. Laws, & H. E.
Barbaree (Eds.), Handbook of sexual assault: Issues, theories and the
treatment of the offender (pp. 231-255). New York: Plenum Press
This review cites a couple studies.
Sirles, E. A., & Franke, P. J. (1989). Factors influencing mothers'
reactions to intrafamilial sexual abuse. Child Abuse and Neglect, 13(1),
131-139.
This study found that 44% of families with sexual abuse by father also
had physical abuse of the mother by the father.
