I think this is a very interesting subject to research....but why are you 
using a survey? This may give you evidence on broad statistical trends but 
nothing in terms of the qualitative evidence you want. Why not use a mixture 
of questionnaires and semistructured interviews: these seem to me to be far 
more appropriate
