Re: Ethnic Differences btw interviewer and child interviewee
I am not familiar with much RESEARCH on the topic--at least in terms of child
abuse. THere is a wealth of info on therapist/client differences, which of
course is a different topic. In terms of general resources in the area, you
might want to check out:
Two chapters on ethnicity and child interviewing in Jerome Sattler's book,
Clinical and Forensic Interviewing of Children and Families.
I also recently did a 60-minute audiotape for Sage Publications on Interviewing
Immigrant Children and FamiliesAbout Child maltreatment (available from sage at
www.sagepub.com or by calling 805-499-9774).
I also wrote an article on a qualitative study of Puerto Ricans about barriers
to disclosures. It was published in 1993 in the journal of Child Sexual Abuse.
I'd be most interested in any other resources you did up.
