Re: tracking foster kids

There are a couple of resources I thought of after reading the request for
information regarding homeless youth. There are two studies I immediately
thought of, one national, one in Wisconsin, that deal with the issue of youth
in foster care aging out. Each of them tracks the youth for some time after
they leave. While the foster parents aren't the focus of the studies, the
information could be helpful as they use primary contacts for finding the
youth once they've left. The two studies are:

Cook, R.J.(1997). Are we helping foster cre youth prepare for their future?
In J.D. Berrick, R.P. Barth, and N. Gilbert (Eds.), Child Welfare Research
Review, Vol. 11. (pp. 201-218). New York: Columbia University Press.

and

Courtney, M.E., Piliavin, I., Grogan-Kaylor, A., & Nesmith, A. (1998). Foster
youth transitions to adulthood: Outcomes 12 to 18 months after leaving
out-of-home care. [On-line] Available:
