Re: Re-unification?

The other question that may need to be asked, thinking about this issue, is
how is the concept of harm(or otherwise) is assessed from the child's
perspective?. Some 'abused' children feel very protective towards their
abusers (I am thinking of a child at the moment in foster care, I heard
about, who has a highly abusive alcoholic mother but is desperate about her
wellbeing) or feel they have a 'special relationship' no matter how
dysfunctional that might appear to us.

What 'harm' might be done not allowing the child to see the abusing parent in
these circumstances or what is (can be) done to help the child through these
situations??

The question is loaded and I feel sorry for the person who wanted such
information in such haste!!
