RE: request for info on after hours crisis services
I don't have the time to provide an extended response to this, hope this
will help you. Here in the province of New-Brunswick (Canada) we have staff
located centrally. Public are given a 1-800 number to reach them after
working hour or holidays. Each region have Social Worker available to
respond to sitution that cannot be resolve throught the phone.....they can
be reah with a beaper. The regional staff in on-call for one week at a time.
In a small region like our we are "on-call" 2-3 weeks a year. All Social
Worker do on-call even if they are not in protection services. They are
provided with a kit that will include legal form and guideline. All
supervisor can be reach after hours services for cunsultation.Staff even
have the direction not to place a child into care without consulting a
supervisor prior to the placement. Staff with no experience in child
protection are trainned how to use our risk assessment tools........if you
need more info don't hesitate to contact me. Staff have the option to be
paid for the hours on-call our take time off
