job openings at Stony Brook
We are pleased to announce 2 job openings in the Family
Violence Lab at SUNY Stony Brook. We are expecting to hire
a postdoctoral research associate and a bachelor's- or master's-
level research support specialist in the coming months. These are
opportunities to join an active research group including Drs. Dan
O’Leary, Susan O’Leary, Richard Heyman, and Amy Slep (PIs), Dr.
Camilo Ortiz (post doc), two full time research staff, and several
graduate students. We are currently conducting 3 federally funded
projects on partner violence and child abuse. The position

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE-DEPARTMENT OF
PSYCHOLOGY, STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT STONY
BROOK:
To assist in conducting a study examining the common and unique
predictors of child and partner abuse. This position requires a
Ph.D.
in clinical psychology with a background in family violence and/ or
marital or parenting research. Responsibilities include recruiting
subjects and collecting./ processing data. Salary is $28–34,000/
year; start date in no later than July 1, 2000; and a two- year

RESEARCH SUPPORT SPECIALIST-DEPARTMENT OF
PSYCHOLOGY,
STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT STONY BROOK:
Position
available April
1, 2000 to assist in the professional execution of a study examining
the role of anger escalation and de-escalation in spouse abuse and
statistical estimation of prevalence of family violence. This
position requires a B.A. or B.S. in psychology or a Masters in
Social
Work with a background in partner abuse. Experience in coding
observed
family conflict and a strong background in statistics/methodology is
required. Collaborative responsibilities will include interviewing
couples, developing observational coding systems, and assisting in
developing statistical techniques. Salary is $25,000/year.
