Foster Care

I am new to the group and hope my questions are appropriate for its 
purposes. I am an MSW student at Boston University. I am interested in the 
following question.

Is there any research that has studied the ability of foster children to 
form attachments with adoptive parents if healthy attachments with 
long-term foster parents/families are severed?
