Here are some articles that discuss client satisfaction with child
welfare services.
Drake, B. (1996). Consumer and worker perceptions of key child
welfare components. In Children and Youth Services Review, Vol. 18, pp.
268-279.
Shireman, J.F., Grossnickle, P., Hinsey, C., & White, J. (1990).
Outcome study of protective services: Comparison of interviews and
records as data sources. In Child Welfare, Vol. 69, 167-179.
Winefield, H.R., & Barlow, J.A. (1995). Client and worker
satisfaction in a child welfare agency. In Child Abuse and Neglect, 19,
897-905.
McGowan, B., & Cohen, S. (1997). Comments on outcome measurement in
child and family services, pp. 297-301. In Outcomes measurement in the
human services: Cross-cutting issues and methods. Edward J. Mullen &
Jennifer L. Magnabosco, Editors. Washington D.C.: NASW Press.
In addition, the Children and Family Research Center (CFRC), at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, School of Social Work
(217-333-5837) has developed a 24-item scale to measure biological
parents' satisfaction with the foster care services they receive. There
is a report available from CFRC regarding the psychometric properties
of the instrument. CFRC has also compiled a literature review of
measurements of client satisfaction in the human services in general.
