UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AT DENVER AND HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER Professional Research Assistant The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect Department of Pediatrics Nature of Work The Kempe Center is a section of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The Professional Research Assistant will work with The Kempe Center’s Infants in Foster and Kinship Care Program. Job Responsibilities Principal duties include scheduling and conducting research home-visits with young preschoolers with a history of foster and kinship care and their caregivers. The research protocol includes administering a wide range of procedures designed to evaluate the development of children and their environments. The PRA will also organize and maintain laboratory records, enter data, operate audio-video recording equipment, score standardized and non-standardized tests, and write developmental assessment reports that consolidate information and offer recommendations for services. Other responsibilities may include conducting literature reviews and other tasks to assist in grant and publications preparation, and coding of observational or chart data collection. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Experience with adhering to a strict research protocol and maintaining research record * Ability to comfortably interact with infants and toddlers * Spanish-English bilingual or high level Spanish language proficiency preferred * Familiarity with MS Access desirable Minimum Requirements * Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field * At least one year of experience in research related activities * Experience with MS Word required * A valid driver’s license is required. * Some evening and weekend hours are required when necessary to perform data collection Salary Range Salary is $28,500.00.
