FULL-TIME, RANK OPEN FACULTY POSITION
(DIRECTOR, CHILDREN AND FAMILY RESEARCH CENTER)

	The University of Illinois School of Social Work is seeking a highly
qualified faculty member (rank open) who will have an administrative
appointment as Director of the Children and Family Research Center, an
interdisciplinary collaboration between the School of Social Work and the
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).  The Center's
goals are to develop with DCFS the capacity to report on the results of its
efforts, initiate and carry out a research agenda, and attract research
funding.

	The Director, who reports to the Dean of the School of Social Work,
will manage a complex research agenda and interact with a variety of
constituents.  Responsibilities will include:  
*	defining a research agenda in conjunction with DCFS; encouraging,
facilitating, and conducting research with experts from diverse disciplines
in Illinois universities; and seeking outside funding.
*	issuing reports on the outcomes that reflect the performance of DCFS
and private child welfare agencies:  safety, permanency and child and family
well-being.
*	assisting DCFS in building capacity to link child welfare research,
policy and practice.
*	facilitating the development and training of a diverse group of DCFS
planning, research, and field staff, as well as young scholars and
affiliated researchers.

Qualifications:
*	An earned doctorate in social work or a related field.
*	A publication record warranting a faculty appointment in the School
of Social Work.
*	A record of obtaining research funding.
*	Experience managing a complex research organization and agenda.
*	Ability to present complex research approaches and results to a
variety of audiences.
*	For appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank, candidates
must meet the University's requirements for that rank.

Starting Date:  August 2000

Salary:  Negotiable and commensurate with experience
