Profile of suspected MSBP perpetrators
A number of child abuse experts use a 'profile' of around two dozen
features said to be associated with perpetrators of Munchausen Syndrome
by Proxy child abuse in order to confirm that a suspected abuser is
another such case. The features are in some cases contradictory, and
there is, to my knowledge, no list of features said to contra-indicate a
confirmation.
There are supporters for this method of working and others who say it is
unscientific.
Nevertheless, confirmations of an MSBP diagnosis using this method have
been accepted as legitimate in the USA and the UK.
Would any experts attached to this list, who are familiar with profiling
in the prediction or identification of child abuse/rs help by commenting
on the appropriateness or otherwise of this technique, in the context of
known research findings?
