advice sought

Would anyone on the list be able to offer me advice on finding work in the
United States at all.  I'm currently working as an 'unqualified' Residential
Social Worker in an 'emergency placement' Children's Home in London looking
after a client group ranging from 10-16 yr olds with behavioural problems
from various backgrounds.  I've done the above for two years and have good
references.  I'd love to legally work in Michigan state with a work permit
etc. to live with my girlfriend.  Any advice/leads would be greatly
appreciated.
