RE: Childhood Trauma
How about adding "Placement in Foster Care" to your list. However
justified, it is CERTAINLY a traumatic event when a child must leave their
home and all their possessions behind to go live in a stranger's home. And,
it is rarely addressed or even recognized.

Subject: Childhood Trauma
I am beginning to develop a project seeking to offer therapeutic
intervention
to children who have been traumatised by a variety of different incidents,
but not due to Sexual & Physical abuse. Without wanting in any way to
suggest
that there are sufficient services for such children, there does seem to be
something of a gap in provision for children who have been traumatised by:
Suicide of a parent/carer
Accident causing loss of mobility, sight, etc.
Acts of extreme violence witnessed outside the home (Violent robbery/extreme
public disorder)
I am interested in links with Post Traumatic Stress Condition
I know that this is a vast and somewhat diverse area but would be interested
in comments, reading, etc.
Thanks
