Re: Foster care increases?
Thanks Julia Littell of Bryn Mawr College PA for that message re
kinship care.
We are trying to get funding for a study of kinship care in NSW
Australia were it rose from12% to 24% of children in care over a five
year period.
Apart from Aboriginal communities where kinship care is actviely
promoted, we wonder whether the choice of relatives is for casework,
family, or economic reasons and whether the placement needs/gets the
same casework and financial support as non relative care.
Apart from the material in the Vol LXXV No. 5 (1996) edition of Child
Welfare devoted to the topic what other research should we be looking
at?
