Really glad to read this Evan. Several years ago at a Sexual Abuse
conference I heard a psychologist from Texas, report on an unpublished
study in which they interviewed prisoners in the Texas system who were in
jail for sexually abusing children. Over 90% reported being sexually
abused in their own childhood. Later, they returned to the same population
of prisoners and re-tested, but now said that following the collection of
data, each prisoner would be given a lie detector test and those who lied
would have time added to their sentence. This time only a very small
sample, less than 15% as I recall, claimed to have experienced sexual abuse
in their childhood.
What a neat study. I have be unable to locate the source of that
information although I have tried, but the above is how I remember it being
presented.
