Pet Therapy in CAN
REPLY TO SENDER! (forgive multiple posts)
I have recently been asked to review a proposed program for introducing pet
therapy into the treatment picture for abused and neglected children. This
is a community program to provide a "foster pet" for allegedly maltreated
children as they move through the CPS and court systems.
I would like private communication from anyone who has any experience --
or knowledge of research -- in pet therapy or *any opinion* about this
concept as it applies to the field of child maltreatment and family
violence.
Since pet therapy in medical and geriatric settings has been quite
positively promoted in the media, it would be helpful to have citations of
research in this area of intervention. Anyone have a bibliography on pet
therapy ?
Please respond to mailto:tph3@cornell.edu with "pet therapy" as the subject
I will summarize the results to those who respond to
mailto:tph3@cornell.edu. with any input to this post.
