Re: Comparison group question
This issue was addressed by Craig Ramey and colleagues in Chapel Hill in a
different context, that of a study of optimal daycare (theirs) vs. home
reared children. In fact, many of the children were in out of home care,
even full day care, before age 5. They ended up analysing attendance and
participation as an IV, and their studies have titles like "model vs. Modal
vs. No Daycare." What they found was a continuum. CHildren in model daycare
with excellent attendance did best. You might consider looking at
participation on a continuum, rather than as a 2 group thing. Just some
ideas.
