Holiday Reminder: Postponing from the list
Many people who go on vacation set their E-mail address to auto reply in
order to notify senders that they are away. That is fine to do if
you have postponed your E-mail list subscriptions. If you have not
postponed your E-mail list subscriptions, every time a message is sent to
the list there is a response that you are on vacation or out of the
office. Even if you do not use auto-reply, you may want to postpone
receipt of messages until you return. One consequence of not
postponing your E-mail is that your electronic mailbox (at your post
office or on your machine) may become full causing problems with incoming
mail. (This is likely only if you receive a lot of E-mail daily or
you are away for a very long time.) This E-mail describes how to
postpone your CHILD-MALTREATMENT-RESEARCH-L subscription so that you will
not be sent postings while you are away.
Before leaving:
Send a message to listproc@cornell.edu
from the E-mail address that is subscribed to the list.
Leave the subject header blank and use the following command in the body
of the message:
set CHILD-MALTREATMENT-RESEARCH-L mail POSTPONE
To receive postings again:
Send a message to listproc@cornell.edu
from the E-mail address that is subscribed to the list.
Leave the subject header blank and use the following command in the body
of the message:
set CHILD-MALTREATMENT-RESEARCH-L mail ACK
