Re:Reviews on the treatment of physically abusive parents

I and others (David Wolfe in Ontario) have treated physically abusive
parents using cognitive behavioral and cognitive behavioral strategies
See Azar (l998) A cognitive behavioral approach to understanding and
treating physically abusive parents In D.A. Wolfe, R.J. McMahon and R.D.
Peters (Eds) Child Abuse : New Directions in prevention and Treatment
Across the Lifespan. Thousand Oaks: Sage.

I also have a chapter in the Handbook of Parent Training (in Schaefer &
Briesmeister) published by Wiley (l989).

David Wofle and I recently revised our chapter in the Mash and Barkley
text on behavioral treatment of childhood disorder which provides lots of
examples of others research and references.

Also, John Lutzker has an excellent new volume he edited on the treatment
of child abuse and neglect by plenum that you might to look at.

Hope this helps.
