Model child abuse treatment programs
Dear Researchers
Dear Dr. Bross,
I am a clinical psychologist and teach at the California School of
Professional Psychology and also am the Director of a family therapy training
and treatment center. I have been planning on developing a comprehensive
child abuse treatment program. Currently we get alot of referrals from CPS
and the kids and adults have usually been seen in individual or family
therapy. I believe a more comprehensive program with groups, parenting
classes etc. would be more effective. I have been attempting to find out the
names of the esteemed model child abuse treatment programs that have been
supported by research or are highly respected.
I am hoping that I can contact them and see if they have manuals which I might
purchase. I have my own ideas of what i'd like to create but think I can
learn from the works of others. I wonder if you might have some ideas where I
can get this information. The program I am developing would treat
physically abusing families and families that have been referred for neglect.
I can imagine including sexually abused children and non-offending spouses,
however, I am a bit intimidated to work with sexually abusing offenders due to
my lack of knowledge in this area. Any suggestions where I can find out about
these programs.
Thanks so much for your time. Bart Rubin, Ph.D., Berkeley, CA. 510-741-7286
