Re: Abuse-proneness measurment instrument
Bob Lee,
Here are some suggestions, in addition to the Child Abuse Potential (CAP)
inventory which has already been mentioned:
An interesting analysis of the predictive validity of the Washington and
Illinois risk assessment tools was published in 1995 by Michael Camasso and
Radha Jagannathan in _Social Work Research_ Vol. 19, No. 3, 174-183.
A thoughtful review of the empirical evidence on risk assessment is
provided by Peter Lyons, Howard Doueck, and John Wodarski (1996) in _Social
Work Research_ Vol. 20, No. 3, 143-155. In addition to the Illinois and
Washington models and their derivatives (e.g., Philadelphia has its own
version of the Illinois CANTS model), they discuss models used in Alaska,
Alameda County, New York, Vermont, and Utah as well as the Magura and Moses
Child Well-being Scales (the latter are published by CWLA).
Don't miss Michael Wald and Maria Wolverton's (1990) article in Child
Welfare (Vol. 69, 483-511) titled "Risk Assessment: The Emperor's New
Clothes?"
Good luck! I'll be interested in your results!
