The definitive 912 page volume: "Family Assessement: Resiliency, Coping and
Adaptation" by H.McCubbin et. al (1996) should be informative.  U.Wisconsin
Press.

If you drink enough coffee, you should be able to read this thing
cover-to-cover in about 6 days!  :-)  :-)
