The Pietzrak book has the advantage of using examples from child abuse
prevention programs; on the other hand, it can be somewhat simplistic.
Another basic, but free, book is one available through the NCCAN
Clearinghouse on evaluating child maltreatment programs.
For an advanced seminar (intended for graduate students) we are teaching
this coming term, we will be using the book edited by Chelimsky and
Shadish: Evaluation for the 21st Century. It contains a number of
excellent articles which we will be supplementing with readings from
journals. Thus, we can focus on important methodological issues and let
the program specifics fall into place.
Good luck!
