child development and removal
Dear Janet Chiancone,
Although the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect
Information does not have documents that specifically mention
children 3 and younger, we do have a few citations that may be
relevant to your research on the developmental impact of removing
children from their homes. Please see:
"When You Place a Child..." by E. H. Plumer, 1992. (Chpaters in this
book review the effects of separation on the child.)
"A Child's Journey Through Placement" by V. I. Fahlberg, 1991. (The
focus of this book is on the feelings, needs, and behaviors of the
child.)
"Assessing Attachment, Separation and Loss" edited by L. Bayless and
L. Love, 1990. (This booklet deals with the significance of the
attachment between parents and children and results of the lack of
attachment.)
If you are interested in conducting your own search, please visit our
web site at: http://www.calib.com/nccanch and select menu item
"online databases and directories". This will provide access to our
entire documents database of over 22,000 titles.
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Sandi McLeod
