Re: Safety
You may want to contact Dr. Brenda Jones Harden at the University of
Maryland at College Park, Institutue for Child Study who is
conducting a study of the quality of out-of-home placement. They are
administering assessments of the child's adaptive functioning and
stability in foster and kinship care with a battery of
assessment measures. She could provide more information about the
specific constructs they are evaluating and which measures are being
used.
Her phone number is 301-405-2827. Sorry I don't have an EMAIL
address.

Subject: Safety
We are beginning a study involving in-person interviews with 6-12 year olds
in California's foster care system. One domain of interest is children's
"experience of safety," in their homes and their neighborhoods. We are
looking for objective measures that may account for the likelihood of
injury, as well as more subjective measures (ones which assess children's
perceptions, reasoning, or feelings). Any leads you can provide would be
greatly appreciated.
