Director, Missouri Head Start - State Collaboration Office

JOB STATEMENT
The Missouri Head Start - State Collaboration Office Director acts as
the liaison between state agencies and orgnaizations providing Head
Start services.
DUTIES
The five year project requires the director to serve as a facilitator
across human services systems to improve and expand services to
low-income children, birth to age 5, and their families; provide
information to the Head Start community regarding state agencies;
inform Head Start about federal and state initiatives and policy
and/or regulation changes; provide information to the state agencies
on Head Start initiatives, policies, and/or regulation development and
changes; work with the Head Start State Collaboration Advisory
Council; and serve as adjunct faculty in the Department of Human
Development and Family Studies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in human services, i.e., human development, education,
social work, psychology, public administration, human resources, etc.
Must have knowledge of management theory, practices, and methods with
five (5) years of experiences preferred in implementing these
practices; a minimum of three years Head Start program and management
experience; credibility with Head Start and larger early childhood
community; and knowledge of laws and funding source regulations
applicable to Head Start.
SALARY
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
UNIVERSITY INFORMATION
The University of Missouri-Columbia is a land grant institution with
an enrollment of approximately 24,000 students. The Department of
Human Development and Family Studies is in the College of Human
Environmental Sciences and offers graduate and undergraduate degrees.
The department includes 14 faculty, 40 graduate students, and 225
undergraduates. Columbia has a population of 75,000 and provides
access to rural and scenic areas. Kansas City and St Louis are
approximately 125 miles each from Columbia.
