APSAC Colloquium & preconf inst on African Americans and child maltreatment

Colleagues--
On July 8, for the first day of the APSAC Colloquium, there will be a
preconference institute on African Americans and Child Maltreatment.
Through this institute we hope to begin to transform the field of child
maltreatment research and intervention so it will support African
American children and families, rather than reinforce stereotypes and
cause damage to fragile families. Last year's preconf institute on
Latinos and child maltreatment was a great success, and we expect this
year's institute to be even better.

We (the diversity committee of APSAC) are still soliciting
abstracts--the extended deadline is January 5. Please contact APSAC for
an abstract form. Feel free to contact me for more info on the preconf.
institute.

Of special interest to members of this list are the research forums,
where the very latest research on cutting edge topics are presented.

The APSAC colloquium offers a great opportunity to meet with other
researchers and professionals in the field of child maltreatment. Most
of the "big names" are there every year, and mingle freely with up-and-
-coming researchers and professionals. Hope to see you there!
