Re: From a Call for Theories to a Call for Literature (fwd)

You said you haven't found anything on the internet about physical abuse.
There is tons under "trauma", with lots of resource material, books,
abstracts of research, articles. I found the material by looking for
"trauma, sexual abuse" and "trauma, memory". Two excellent text, on the
psychobiological basis of PTSD as result of any kind of abuse, is Judith
Herman, MD, "Trauma and Recovery" and Knopp and Benson, "A Primer on the
Complexities of Traumatic Memory of Childhood Sexual Abuse". Don't ignore
the "Primer..." because it says sexual abuse. It is full of details about
the effects on the brain and body of severe abuse, period. Very readable.
Don't need to be a neuroscientist to understand it. Good luck.
