Thomas Book Published Online
Through a special arrangement with Haworth Press, we at Cornell are
currently using the World Wide Web to publish _Travels in the Trench
Between Child Welfare Theory and Practice_, by George Thomas, Ph.D.
This full-length 1994 book will appear in installments. The first
installment is now available online at The Child Abuse Prevention Network,
at http://child.cornell.edu.
_Travels in the Trench_ anticipated the recent debate to "End Welfare As
We Know It," and presents a provocative view of the trajectory of child
welfare services in the US since World War II.
You are invited to visit the Child Abuse Prevention Network, partake in the
book, and make contact with the author via e-mail. _Travels In the Trench_
also appeared as Volume 17, Numbers 1/2, of the journal _Children & Youth
Services_.
(While it is only one theme in an overall thesis, child welfare
information technology is a topic that is covered in the book, and may be
of some interest to us Internet folks.)
