Re: Information on marital violence and child maltreatment
I am a research assistant on a grant in the School of Social Work at
the University of Minnesota, Twin-Cities that is looking at that -
extend of marital violence in a child maltreatment sample.
Some of what we have (early analysis stage) is being presented this
week in Ontario at the 2nd Int'l Conference of Children Exposed to
Family Violence. PI's are Drs. Jeffrey Edleson and Sandra Beeman in
the U of Mn School of Social Work. When we are ready to make more
data public I can notify you of that.
Please feel free to correspond with me directly as well. I can
forward things on to the PI's as well.

Subject: Information on marital violence and child maltreatment
I am a graduate student at the University of Houston. I am working on a
project that provides treatment to families referred by Child Proctective
Services. We are working on a grant to extend these services. I am looking
for any data on the extent of marital violence in child maltreatment
samples. We are assessing marital violence on the Conflict Tactics Scale
within our sample and are finding high rates, but with such a small sample
we do not know if this finding is representative. If anyone should have
some data on this subject or know where I should look ... I would appreciate
the assisstance.
Thanks!
Laura
