Re: Juvenile Parole Officers and CPS workers
Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is considering the
merger of juvenile parole and CPS functions. This is most likely to
occur in more rural areas of our state. Does anyone know of any
persons/researchers who have written on this subject or any programs or
states where this is occurring? I am part of a team responsible for
training to this new role and I am looking for contacts, materials, ideas,
suggestions and leads. The role of the child protective service worker
in our state follows the family preservation philosophy. Our cps
workers have no authority to remove children and their "investigative"
role is to assess for maltreatment, risk of maltreatment and then
intervene. Juvenile parole does have arrest powers. Merging the two,
if possible, is our challenge. E-mail cacioppo@unlinfo.unl.edu
