Re: Looking for information on primary prevention programs

Parents Anonymous, Inc. was founded in 1970 through the courageous efforts
of a California mother struggling to overcome her abusive behavior toward
her children and to create a safe and caring home for her family. Working
in partnership with her social worker they launched a national movement to
bring hellp, support, strength, and hope to thousands of families all
across America. Their vision inspired parents, professionals, and
community volunteers to establish Parents Anonymous groups all over the
country. Currently some 2,200 groups meet weekly across the country in
mutual support programs for parents which are jointly led by parent
leaders and professionally trained facilitators, and in concurrently held
programs for the children. Some parent participants have abused their
children, others are at risk to abuse because of stressors in their lives
which may be perceived as overwhelming. Thus, Parents Anonymous, Inc. is
both a primary and secondary prevention model.
