As of November 12, British Columbia has implemented an enhancement to it's
MIS. On the intake side, the system requires all new child protection intake
reports to be taken on line. The initial results are printed and bundled
with the hard copy interview notes, collateral contacts and risk assessment.

The final case decision is then placed on line at the conclusion of the
intervention. As well, once children are placed in the care of the state,
personal contact and health and behaviour information is placed on line.

The goal of the system changes is to ensure that key information with
respect to the family/child is available to other workers who may not always
have access to the full hard copy file thus allowing a more knowledgable
basis for emergency interventions.
