Thanks to all, Elissa Position for Bilingual (Spanish-Speaking) Post-Doctoral Clinician: Trauma in Childhood and Emerging Adults Description: Child HELP Partnership and the Center for Counseling and Consultation at St. John’s University seek a qualified clinician with bilingual proficiency in Spanish to provide mental health evaluations and therapy for youth across the developmental spectrum, from early childhood through emerging adulthood. The therapist will spend 50% of their time at Child HELP Partnership, a specialized trauma clinic for children and families, and 50% of their time at the Center for Counseling and Consultation, serving St. John’s University students with a variety of mental health problems. Position is part of a two-year foundation grant. We are seeking an individual with strong multicultural expertise in working with clients of color and who can work with other staff in providing coordination of services to diverse populations. Child HELP Partnership Child HELP Partnership is a clinical research program designed to serve traumatized, multi-cultural preschoolers, children, and adolescents, and their families. Program staff includes psychologists, post-doctoral fellows, social workers, mental health counselors, graduate students, and undergraduate volunteers. Under the leadership of Drs. Elissa Brown and Komal Sharma-Patel, licensed clinical psychologists, we provide outreach, assessment, psychotherapy, and case management services in both our clinic and community-based sites. Child HELP Partnership aims to provide these services in multiple languages. We also conduct community-building efforts to disseminate these trauma-informed, evidence-based services. Our community partnerships include: Child Protective Services, Legal Aid, Queens Family Court, local schools, Queens Library branches, and Queens Child Advocacy Center. As an affiliate member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the Child HELP Partnership also collaborates with national experts. Hired clinician will receive training and supervision in trauma-specific cognitive-behavioral therapies for children who have experienced physical abuse/assault, sexual abuse/assault, and/or witnessed domestic violence. Clinicians will work with families at the PARTNERS Clinic in Flushing, Queens. Center for Counseling and Consultation The Center for Counseling and Consultation is the undergraduate counseling center at St. John’s University. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for providing psychological evaluations / intake assessments, individual counseling, consultation, psychological testing, and crisis intervention to a diverse population of students within a brief therapy framework. Specific responsibilities include: * Consult with faculty and staff on issues relevant to student academic performance, emotional well-being, and psychological functioning. * Provide assessment and recommendations for appropriate treatments for students and offer crisis intervention for students in emergency situations. * Provide referral services to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities. * Maintain timely and accurate records according to state and federal mental health law and standards of the profession. * Offer consultation and education to faculty and staff regarding student behavioral and emotional issues, classroom concerns, and current mental health issues. * Respond to requests for classroom participation by faculty, as well as requests for information/reports from the community regarding services and resources. * Provide workshops and outreach to all members of the University community. * Engage in outcomes assessment with individual clients and center goals. * Participate in staff meetings in the Center for Counseling and Consultation. Qualifications: * Applicant must fall under one of these categories: 1) Recent graduate of a program in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology. Doctoral students in psychology may apply if they have fulfilled all requirements with the exception of the dissertation (ABD) by the position start date.
