E-mail List Serve
A discussion group for child maltreatment researchers
Description and Scope
The Archive maintains a list serve called the
Child-Maltreatment-Research-L (CMRL) for those concerned with research
issues in child abuse and neglect and its prevention. The CMRL offers all child abuse and neglect researchers
the opportunity to share
and obtain research information in a moderated exchange.
A "list serve" or "E-list" is an electronic mailing list that
automatically distributes e-mail messages to all those who have
subscribed to the list. When you send a message to the list it is
automatically forwarded to all subscribers. Likewise, as a subscriber
you will receive the postings of all the other subscribers. Subscribers
also have the option of responding to the originator of a message rather
than to the whole list.
Child-Maltreatment-Research-L (CMRL) list serve was established in November 1993 and
hundreds of subscribers.
The goal of the CMRL is to encourage scholarly discussion among
researchers in the field of child abuse and neglect. Appropriate
topics for discussion include all areas of child abuse and neglect
research (e.g., epidemiology, etiology, prevention, consequences,
intervention, and treatment) and the full range of relevant research issues (e.g., measurement,
instrumentation, statistical analysis, ethics). The list is not open
to discussions of program-related or clinical issues except as they
relate to evaluation research.
The emphasis of the list is on sharing
timely and helpful information rather than on the discussion of issues
or sharing of opinions. For example, appropriate postings will include
announcements of professional meetings and other resources, requests for
information or assistance, and timely news items. In order to maintain a
professional forum, we ask that when you subscribe to the CMRL, you
enter your real name, not a fictional one.
All postings are reviewed by an Archive staff moderator. The
moderator on duty has the option of approving each message in full or
discarding it -- messages are not edited or partially approved. Please
read the CMRL Moderation and
